I’ve posted an announcement and also outside Mrs A-Y’s room, but all the cotton candy activities for this week have been canceled. There are not enough people signed up to make or sell it (and some of you didn’t show up when you were supposed to…) so it’s been canceled. Just a reminder that I am not going to do your fundraising for you….
Mr LaBelle will hold his normal hours this week and I will be in on Friday. Do you have a piece to present to me? I will also have bus slips for those of you who need to get one filled out.
Still needing t-shirt designs…..you dont want to make me draw something..it would be rather, well, pathetic….
Reminder there is also a $5 dollar activity fee that should be paid fairly shortly…..
Email me if you have any questions, comments, concerns at chamb202@msu.edu or find me through the facebook site.
Best,
Ms. C

Hi all,
I realized last week that I said that I would be in this Friday to start rehearsals, BUT I forgot that it conflicts with the work I need to do at Color Cruise. That being said: 1)Practice with Mr LaBelle will still be held on Wednesday. You need to check with him if he is planning to come in on Friday 2) We will still make cotton candy friday evening. I will meet everyone at the english side of the school. 3) A side note on cotton candy, what we sell on Friday will be an indication of what we sell the other days, and of course weather is a factor (people won’t buy if its raining etc). I hope to be successful, but you never know.
As always, email me with any questions,
Ms. C

Heya!
What a great meeting today. Alot of you came to me with great ideas and I can’t wait to see what some of you come up with! I see a lot of talent in this group. A few reminders and pointers:
~Rehersals/Practices start next week Weds and Fri. You need to be there one of those days.
~If you have not given me your parent letter/permission slip/ $5 activity fee you need to do so within the next two weeks
~I still have no submissions for a T-Shirt Design for the season -get those creative juices flowing!
~I’m really glad so many of you were able to give your time to make cotton candy next weekend. I will post the list as a link on the right hand side of the page so you can double check.
~On a fund raising note, our next opportunity will be the days leading up to Halloween when we will sell it at lunch, so those of you who are unable to contribute this time around will have an opportunity next time. I would also note here that you will not recieve ‘a slice of the money pie’ for selling at lunch, only if you help at a ‘producer’ level. More to come on that later…
~Hopefully I will have a more concrete tournament schedule in the coming weeks, please be patient.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to email me chamb202@msu.edu or talk to Mr. LaBelle.

So in having discussion about the paperwork, it appears that our activity fee is $5/person not the $20 that was originally said
Yay! You might want to set aside the other $15 for tshirts….
PS I will not stop you from giving us $20 though….

Also, if anyone has any ideas for a Tshirt design please bring them!

Bravo (!) to all who went to Regionals this past Saturday. I know that it was a long day that started with a bridge out and ended with an extra hours wait for results, but each of you was positivly suburb. I can’t tell you how easy it is for me to brag about “my” team to my friends because you guys do such a great job! Your presentations and actions reflect those of true competitors. Special recognition goes to the following:
Angel Villarreal: Alternate to States (6th overall) in Dramatic Interpretation
Chris Slattery and Alisha Green: Alternate (6th overall) in Duo
Chris Chamberlain: 5th (progressing to State Competition) in Impromptu speaking
Daniel Thompson: Alternate (6th overall) in Children’s Storytelling
States: State Competition will be held Friday May 4th (during school) and Saturday May 5th at Central Michigan University. Contestants participate all day both days, all though there is down time due to staggard/module scheduling. Anyone on our team is welcome to come and support or watch State Competition, although non-competitors will not be dismissed from school. I also highly suggest carpooling.
Practice schedule: Those of you who are going OR ARE ALTERNATES to States, I would like you to keep practicing. Registration is due the 30th, and even then, things happen (unfortunatly). You never know what may cause you to progress to States and the worst thing that could happen is for you to be unprepared to go. I am also aware that Drama Club has there big production this weekend so don’t overdue yourselfs, but keep everything fresh in your heads.
Speaking of Drama Club…..
It looks like we are going to be paring up with Drama Club for Dessert Theatre on MAY 30th (an evening event). If you would like to preform you are more than welcome to, regardless of how many times you competed in the season or how you fared. ALSO you do not have to be a drama person to participate! Broadcasters etc, I would love to show off your talents so that people get a taste of how hard it is to prep and speak with a time limit. This event is FOR ALL. That also means that you need to stay “un-rusty” with your piece/skills. It is also at that time that I will award letters and pins. I will notify you if you are eligible for either. If you would like to perform, just let me know. That being said: more details coming soon.
The next few weeks for me are going to be a little crazy for with finals, so I may not be at practice. BUT Mrs Kendall and Jeni will be so there are NO EXCUSES for coming. I expect you to take their advice seriously as both most definitly know what they are talking about.
Again, all of you made me very proud this saturday (we definitly had the cleanest table in the cafetaria
)
Email me with any questions,

Hello my wonderfuls!
I realize that I have been a bit slack in posting up here, but while you were all off sleeping in and what not on break, I still had a crazy week of class with papers, exams, and the normal bruhaha. So, down to business then!
District:
GREAT JOB To everyone. I am so proud of you guys; not only in your rankings, but in the overall manner in which you conducted yourselves. You were polite, patient, and graceful about winning. Pats on the back all around. The names and scores are listed below.
Angel Villarreal, 1st place in Dramatic Int.
Taylor DeLaOssa, 1st in Dramatic Int 9/10
Alisha Green and Chris Slattery, 1st in Duo
Kevin Fox, 4th and Alternate to Regionals in Storytelling
Sarah Asman, 1st in Prose
Chris Chamberlain, 2nd in Impromptu
Daniel Thompson, 1st in Children’s Storytelling
Mike Tien, 1st in TV Broadcasting
Kelly Dunnigan, 2nd in TV Broadcasting
Congrats again to all!
So, now to the important information: REGIONALS.
Date: Sat April 21st
Bus Leaves: 5:30AM
The tournament direction hopes to have awards around 5:30pm, so then I would anticipate being home around 8pm, but you guys know how these things flex back and forth…..
This is like a normal tournament day. You will need to bring money for food, things to keep you entertained, etc.
What is different is that the Top 5 from each event go on to States, not top three.
Friends and Parents are welcome to come. Friends that are students I need to have a signed bus slip and a written note for. Parents need nothing, but it would be nice if you told me they were coming.
Practice is on Mon/Wed/Fri as usual. I can not tell you how crucial this is. You have all just gone a week and a half with out practice. You are rusty. Believe me. On top of that, Regionals is tough. We have alot of talented schools who we will be competing with in our Region. You need to be practicing twice a week, and running through your piece every night at home. Broadcasters listen to NPR on 90.5fm. As high intelligence beings, you are able to mimic what you hear, and this is what you’re going for. Plus, staying abreast of current events (esp if you’ve tuned stuff out the past week or so) will help you with your editorials (the clincher in a round).
On a less serious note, I’m thinking somewhere in the second week of May for our parent night. Let me know (seniors I know you’re swamped).
As always, let me know if you have any questions, concerns, comments (in forensics or otherwise). You know my email.
Hugs to all,
Laura C

This week I would like to see each of you twice this week. Since Mrs. Kendall is on vacation and Jeni’s schedule is limited, it will be me which means that practices are going to run long, or I will have to work with each of you for less amount of time, hence why I would like to see you twice. I am posting a parent letter (on the right hand side of this page) that I would like each of you to show and/or print for, your parents/gaurdians. It explains whats going on with the competition itself. It ALSO explains what you need to do/have for the competition.
Broadcasters, hopefully on Monday Mrs. A-Y will sit down with me and run numbers so that I can tell you who is going.
If you still have a chair or stool that you have used in competition, please return those to Mrs A-Y’s room so that those that need them have them, especially for practice.
It is outlined in the Parent Letter, but please see to getting your scripts in order for competition. If, AFTER you have read the letter, you are still having trouble, please come see me.
I will have a few hard copies of the letter on me during practice.
As always, feel free to email,

Great job to everyone who was at the Chemic Classic Invitational this past Saturday. Congrats to Kelly, Chris, and Mike who all broke to semi-finals.
Remember, NO PRACTICE THIS WEDNESDAY due to testing. Also, I would like you to start coming in two days a week for practice since Districts are coming up on March 28th. It can’t hurt to browse around the MIFA page (the link is on the right side of this page). Look for the tab on the left side of the MIFA page that says IE Districts.
Hugs to all.
